Personal Auto Insurance Across Indiana, Illinois & Florida
Your vehicle is an important part of everyday life, but the right auto insurance policy protects more than the car itself. It can help protect you financially when an accident causes injuries, property damage, or damage to your own vehicle.
Crapo Insurance Agency is an independent agency based in Terre Haute, Indiana, and serving drivers in Indiana, Illinois, and Florida. Rather than limiting you to a single insurance company, we can compare available options from multiple carriers and help you understand the coverage you are considering before you purchase a policy.
Whether you have a clean driving record or have experienced tickets, accidents, or other driving issues, our goal is to help you identify coverage options appropriate for your situation.
If you ride a motorcycle or travel in an RV or motorhome, those vehicles may require coverage designed around their distinct use and features.
Understanding Personal Auto Coverage
An auto insurance policy can contain several different types of protection. The coverage that is appropriate for one driver may not be the same as the coverage needed by another.
Bodily Injury Liability
Helps pay amounts you may legally owe when you are responsible for an accident that injures another person, subject to the limits and terms of your policy.
Property Damage Liability
Helps pay for damage you cause to another person's vehicle or other property in an accident for which you are responsible.
Collision Coverage
Helps pay for damage to your own covered vehicle caused by a collision or rollover, generally subject to the deductible selected for the policy.
Comprehensive Coverage
Provides protection for certain types of vehicle damage that are not caused by a collision, such as theft, fire, windstorm, or glass damage, subject to the policy terms and applicable deductible.
Uninsured and Underinsured Motorist Coverage
Can provide protection when you are injured or suffer a covered loss involving a driver who has no insurance or does not have enough insurance to cover the loss. Requirements and rejection options differ by state, so review the comparison below and our three-state insurance requirements guide.
Additional Coverage Options
Depending upon the insurer and policy, other options may include medical payments, towing, rental-car reimbursement, and other protections. We can explain the available choices and help you determine which options make sense for your situation.
Minimum Auto Insurance Requirements by State
Minimum requirements depend on where a vehicle is registered. These legal minimums are not necessarily recommended coverage levels or enough protection for every driver.
Indiana
The ordinary liability minimum is 25/50/25. Newly written policies include uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage unless it is properly rejected in writing.
Illinois
The ordinary liability minimum is 25/50/20. Uninsured motorist bodily injury coverage must be at least 25/50.
Florida
The ordinary registration requirement is $10,000 in Personal Injury Protection and $10,000 in Property Damage Liability. Bodily Injury Liability is not universally part of this basic minimum, but financial-responsibility requirements can arise after certain crashes or violations, and DUI rules are higher.

Coverage for Different Driving Histories
Not every driver has the same insurance history. Crapo Insurance works with customers who have clean driving records as well as drivers who have experienced tickets, accidents, or DUI-related issues.
Because we are an independent agency, we can review available options rather than assuming that one insurance company or one type of policy will fit every customer.
Coverage availability, eligibility, and premiums depend on the individual applicant and the insurance company, but our role is to help you understand the available choices and find an appropriate solution.
More Than Just the Lowest Price
Price matters, but an auto insurance policy should also provide coverage you understand and protection that fits your circumstances.
When comparing policies, it is important to consider more than the premium. Liability limits, deductibles, vehicle coverage, uninsured/underinsured motorist protection, optional coverages, and exclusions can all affect how a policy responds when you need it.
Our goal is to explain those differences clearly so you know what you are purchasing.
Flexible Payment Options
Crapo Insurance currently offers several payment arrangements depending on the policy and insurance company, including:
- Monthly
- Quarterly
- Semi-annual
- Annual
Payment methods may include debit card, credit card, electronic check, or check by phone, depending upon the carrier and policy.
When Should You Review Your Auto Insurance?
It can be useful to review your coverage when your circumstances change—for example, when you purchase or replace a vehicle, add another driver, change how a vehicle is used, or simply have not reviewed your policy in some time.
A coverage review gives you an opportunity to confirm that your limits, deductibles, vehicle coverage, and optional protections still reflect your current needs.
